Mississippi Native, Seasoned Hospital Administrator Scott Smith to Assume Permanent Leadership Position

Cleveland, Miss. – Bolivar Medical Center (BMC) announced today that Scott Smith has been appointed its new CEO.  He will assume the leadership role in mid-December, which has been held by Interim CEO Tim Flusche since July.

“Scott Smith is a talented and proven hospital administrator, who I am certain will be a welcome addition to both Bolivar Medical Center and the greater Cleveland community,” said Robert Klein, president of LifePoint Hospitals’ United Division, of which BMC is a part. “Scott is deeply committed to supporting the delivery of high-quality medical care and to ensuring healthy, fulfilling relationships with both physicians and hospital employees.”

Smith comes to Bolivar Medical Center from Central Mississippi Medical Center, a 429-bed facility located in Jackson, Miss., where he served as CEO. He was also previously CEO of LifePoint Hospitals’ sister hospital Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, La., and River West Medical Center Plaquemine, La.  Among other things, Smith offers expertise in strategic planning, physician recruiting, and patient and physician satisfaction.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Scott Smith to Bolivar,” said BMC Board Chair Trena Danna. “The Board is confident that he is the right person to lead our hospital into the future.”

Smith holds a Master of Science degree in management from Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., and a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.
