Local physician honored by LifePoint Hospitals
Cleveland, MS - Dr. Michael Portner, Chief of Staff at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, Miss., has been awarded the 2009 Physician Leadership Award by LifePoint Hospitals, a leading hospital company focused on providing healthcare services in non-urban communities in 17 states.
Dr. Portner has practiced medicine at Bolivar Medical Center since 1997, and he currently serves as a member of the hospital's Board of Trustees, Medical Executive Committee and the Critical Care Committee.

In addition to his work as a nephrologist, Dr. Portner is active within his community. He is the voice of the Cleveland Wildcats high school football team and is active in his church and Bible study class. He is actively involved in physician recruiting and is an extraordinary advocate for the hospital within the medical community, the school system and the broader community.
LifePoint Hospitals created the Physician Leadership Award to recognize the important role physicians play in achieving the company's mission and vision. The annual award recognizes an individual physician who lives and exemplifies LifePoint's High Five guiding principles by demonstrating:

Portner was recognized at LifePoint Hospitals' annual Senior Leadership Conference on June 17, in Washington D.C.
