Bolivar Medical Center installs new 64-Slice CT Scanner
In an effort to bring the latest imaging technology to the Delta, Bolivar Medical Center recently purchased a "top-of-the-line" GE LightSpeed VCT (volume) 64-slice CT scanner.
This scanner provides greatly enhanced diagnostic images, and due to its superb imaging qualities, BMC is now able to offer additional procedures that focus on the early detection of strokes and cancer.
The following is a list of minimally to non-invasive procedures that Dr. Patrick Sewell, Board Certified Radiologist, is now scheduling at BMC:
- Virtual Colonoscopy (for detection of colon polyps or cancer)
- CT Angiography of the Heart (non-invasive imaging of the coronary arteries)
- Cerebral Perfusion (to evaluate brain blood flow for early stroke detection)
In addition to the above procedures, BMC is also scanning the brain, neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis.
According to Dr. Sewell, BMC's full-time Radiologist, "I'm very excited about the new 64-Slice CT. It creates exquisite detailed images of the body, allowing for better and earlier detection of disease."
