Bolivar Medical Center Baby Wins Scholarship

Adley Utz wasn’t even one day old before being awarded her first scholarship for college. She was welcomed into the world at Bolivar Medical Center on May 29 at 5:31 a.m. by her parents, Heather Dobbins and Derrick Utz of Greenville.

College Savings Mississippi hosted the 6th annual “I’m a 529 Baby” scholarship promotion, of which 19 hospitals in Mississippi participated. A $529 Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) scholarship was be awarded to the baby born at or after and closest to 5:29 AM and 5:29 PM on May 29, 2018.

Adley was the lucky winner for the morning baby, and Matthew “Wood” Stringer, Jr., born to Matthew and Courtney Stringer of Tupelo at North Mississippi Medical Center Women’s Hospital was the winner for the evening baby.

In addition to the scholarships, all babies born at the participating hospitals on May 29 received an “I’m a 529 baby!” bib.

Bolivar Medical Center welcomes approximately 350 babies into the world every year while providing a safe and quality experience for expecting parents. All of the staff at Bolivar Medical Center are excited to see this bundle of joy receive this scholarship from the Office of the State Treasurer Lynn Fitch.
