Bolivar Medical Center Opens Visitation Hours

March 2, 2021

Bolivar Medical Center announced that one well visitor or caregiver will be allowed during the hours of 9 am to 5:30 pm for inpatients effective Tuesday, March 2. One well visitor or caregiver will also be permitted with patients having a surgical procedure as well as presenting to the Emergency Department. The decision was made after careful review of COVID-19 projections and volume as well as state and federal guidance.

“Our hospital’s continued top priority is safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our patients, providers, employees and community,” said Rob Marshall, chief executive officer (CEO) of Bolivar Medical Center. “We continue to monitor closely the prevalence of the virus in our community as we adapt our operations to safely care for and support our patients, and we feel confident that it is safe to begin allowing inpatient visitors again at this time.”

As part of the updated visitor allowances, inpatients and surgical patients are now allowed one well visitor during visitation hours. Emergency Department patients are also allowed one well visitor. All visitors are required to take a temperature check at the kiosk upon entry. Visitors who fail the kiosk temperature check or exhibit signs and symptoms of illness will not be allowed in the facility. All visitors must be 18 years of age or older and are required to wear a mask while in the facility. Visitors are required to stay in the designated area(s) with the patient, except for the cafeteria.

Individuals receiving outpatient procedures, OB and pediatric patients will continue to be allowed one well visitor. Long Term Care visitation is dependent on positivity rates for Bolivar County and will be communicated to residents and their families.

Bolivar Medical Center continues to take the extra steps to prepare for our patients and visitors—from enhanced cleaning procedures throughout the day, to face mask requirements for everyone, and adjusting waiting room areas for safe social distancing.
