Murphy named Chief Financial Officer of Bolivar Medical Center

Bolivar Medical Center (BMC) announced that Donald J. Murphy has been named Chief Financial Officer of BMC, effective immediately. Murphy has served as the interim CFO at BMC since May 2019. He joined BMC from VACO Consulting in Nashville, Tenn., where he served as an Interim CFO and Healthcare Consultant.
“We are so excited to have Don step into this important leadership role,” said Rob Marshall, chief executive officer (CEO) of BMC. “He is an exemplary leader with a tremendous amount of financial experience and expertise. His commitment to patient care, physicians, employees and the community is evident in all that he does, and I know that he will help us further advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”
Prior to his role at VACO, Murphy spent 21 years with HCA The Healthcare Company in Nashville, serving in multiple roles including Division Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Ethics & Compliance Officer and Director of Accounting.

As Division Controller with HCA, Murphy assisted the Division CFO in monitoring and evaluating financial reporting and performance for 15 acute-care hospitals in North Florida. As CFO of Gulf Coast Medical Center, a 176-bed HCA facility, Murphy assisted the CEO in the development of hospital operations as well as analyses of service demands and resource availability.

Murphy holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Davenport University.
