Bolivar Medical Center Shares its 2024 Community Benefit Report
The report outlines the hospital’s positive impact on the well-being of the communities it serves.
Bolivar Medical Center highlighted its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2024 calendar year. This report shares several data points detailing how the hospital positively contributes to Cleveland and the surrounding areas while supporting the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.
“2024 marked a strong year for Bolivar Medical Center and our partnership with the Cleveland area,” said Jimmy Young, CEO of Bolivar Medical Center. “We expanded our services, upgraded our facility, and continued to provide exceptional care to each patient who chose Bolivar for their healthcare needs. We also contributed significantly to the broader community as a large employer, taxpayer, and provider of charitable care.”
Bolivar Medical Center’s 2024 community benefit report offers insights into the hospital’s ongoing efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its communities by welcoming new providers, expanding service lines, and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2024, Bolivar added 24 affiliated providers in areas that included Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, and Tele-Radiology. Capital improvements included upgrading and relocating the Bolivar Urology Clinic, adding a new stress testing lab with the most modern technology in the Mississippi Delta, and opening a new women’s clinic on the hospital’s campus.
Additionally, Bolivar provided more than $60 million in charitable or uncompensated health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Bolivar is also committed to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2024, the hospital distributed more than $27 million in salaries, wages, and benefits for its approximately 330 full-time employees, and contributed nearly $80,000 in professional development and tuition assistance to enhance its employees’ opportunities to learn and improve the care they provide their patients.
The report shares several examples of how Bolivar is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves. Last year, the organization paid nearly $4 million in provider, payroll, property, and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility that helps boost the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have continued its support of local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including Bayou Academy, Bolivar County Hospital Auxiliary, Bologna Performing Arts Center, Cleveland-Bolivar Chamber of Commerce, Cleveland Junior Auxiliary, Cleveland Park Commission, Cleveland School District, Crosstie Arts & Crafts Festival, Delta BBQ Battle, Delta Cotton Belles, Delta Rice Promotions, Inc., Delta State University Athletics, Ducks Unlimited, Presbyterian Day School, Relay for Life, Women’s Resource Center, and ZOE Ministries, among others.
“It’s our privilege to support like-minded organizations who want the best for this area and those who call it home,” added Young. “Bolivar, these organizations, and the people we serve are all partners in making our communities healthier.”
