Bolivar Medical Center and Cleveland Medical Clinic Welcome Dr. Zachary Watters
Bolivar Medical Center and Cleveland Medical Clinic are proud to announce the addition of Dr. Zachary Watters to the medical team. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Watters brings a strong commitment to compassionate, community-focused care and a passion for serving rural populations.
Dr. Watters recently completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi, where he also earned his Doctorate of Medicine in 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi College.
As part of his new role, Dr. Watters will serve both as a hospitalist at Bolivar Medical Center—providing inpatient care and collaborating with clinical teams—and as an outpatient provider at Cleveland Medical Clinic. His outpatient practice will be located in the Cleveland Medical Mall, where he will begin seeing patients on August 20.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Watters distinguished himself through leadership, service, and academic excellence. He was honored with the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholar scholarship and the Spirit of Medicine Award, recognizing his dedication to patient advocacy, curiosity, and compassionate care.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Watters to our team,” said Jimmy Young, CEO of Bolivar Medical Center. “His dedication to rural healthcare, his compassionate approach to medicine, and his strong academic background make him an outstanding addition. We are confident he will serve our community with the same excellence and heart that have defined his career thus far.”
His extensive service includes leadership roles at the Jackson Free Clinic, participation in COVID-19 vaccine administration, and educational outreach through programs like Tar Wars and the Mississippi Rural Physicians Program. Dr. Watters is also a member of the American College of Physicians and has held leadership and tutoring roles during his undergraduate studies.
Ann Nowell, Associate Administrator at Bolivar Medical Center, added, “Dr. Watters has already made a strong clinical impression. His thoughtful, patient-centered approach and collaborative nature are exactly what our hospital and clinic need. He will be a tremendous asset to our patients and our care teams.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Watters enjoys traveling, playing soccer, watching movies, and spending time with his wife.
Dr. Watters will see patients at Cleveland Medical Clinic, located in the Cleveland Medical Mall. To schedule an appointment, please call 662-843-3606 or visit BolivarMedical.com/Watters.
